Overview
ConverterKit (“we”, “us”, “the site”) operates this website to provide free unit conversion tools. This policy describes what limited information may be processed when you visit the site, how that information is used, and the choices you have regarding it. We do not require account creation, do not sell personal information, and do not collect more data than is needed to operate and improve the conversion tools.
By using the site you acknowledge that the practices described here apply to your visit. If you do not agree with this policy, please discontinue use of the site. We may update this policy from time to time; material changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date above.
Information We Collect
We aim to collect as little information as is reasonably necessary to operate the site. The following categories may be processed when you visit:
- Server log data: IP address, user-agent string, referring URL, requested URL, response status code, and timestamp, as recorded by the hosting provider for security, abuse prevention, and capacity planning.
- Tool input values: numeric or text inputs you type into a converter (for example, “500 grams”) are processed in your browser to display a result. These inputs are not transmitted to our servers as part of normal tool use.
- Analytics events: aggregated, pseudonymous events about which converters are used and how (for example, page view, conversion submitted, embed copied), processed by Google Analytics 4.
- Advertising signals: identifiers and signals used by Google AdSense to render ads, subject to the consent choice you make in our cookie banner.
- Local storage: a small string in your browser’s local storage that records your cookie consent decision so the banner does not reappear on every visit.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
The site uses cookies and similar storage mechanisms (local storage) for two purposes: measurement and advertising. Cookies are small text files set by your browser on behalf of the site or third-party providers. You can manage cookies through your browser’s settings and you can revisit your consent decision by clearing local storage for this domain.
- Google Analytics 4 sets cookies (for example,
_ga,_ga_*) to measure aggregate site usage. We use this data to understand which converters are useful and where the experience can be improved. - Google AdSense may set cookies to deliver, frequency-cap, and measure advertisements, and to detect invalid traffic. Whether personalized advertising cookies are set depends on your consent choice and your region.
- Strictly necessary storage: a key in local storage records your consent decision. This storage is set regardless of consent choice because it is required to remember the choice itself.
Google Analytics 4 and Google AdSense Disclosure
We use Google Analytics 4 to measure site usage and Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this and other sites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, and may opt out of third-party vendor use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting aboutads.info/choices. We have configured Google’s consent mode to honor the choice you make in our cookie banner: if you decline, advertising and analytics storage are denied at the platform level.
Legal Bases for Processing
Where the EU or UK General Data Protection Regulation applies, our legal bases for processing are: your consent (for analytics and advertising cookies), our legitimate interest in operating a secure website (for server log data), and compliance with legal obligations where applicable.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding personal information that we or our service providers process about you. These can include:
- The right to know what personal information is processed about you and to request a copy.
- The right to request correction of inaccurate information.
- The right to request deletion, subject to legal exceptions.
- The right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising (California residents).
- The right to withdraw consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing prior to withdrawal.
- The right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below. We will respond within the time required by applicable law. Please note that because we do not require accounts and do not directly retain identifying information, the exercise of some rights may require additional information from you to verify your identity.
Data Retention
Server log data is retained by the hosting provider for the period required to operate the service and investigate security events. Analytics data is retained per the configured Google Analytics 4 retention period. Local storage entries persist on your device until you clear them.
Children’s Privacy
The site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 where local law sets that threshold). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
International Transfers
The site is operated from the United States and uses service providers that may process data in the United States and other countries. Where applicable, we rely on standard contractual clauses or other approved transfer mechanisms.
Contact
Questions, requests to exercise rights, or concerns about this policy can be sent to contact@converterkit.tools. Please include enough information for us to respond, but do not include sensitive personal information in your initial email.
